One of the challenges with WebI that I had in the past was fact that when you select more columns in a table then the Alerters button in the menu bar is disabled:
When you select only one column, the button is (of course) enabled and an alerter can be applied to the column:
So how to apply an alerter to more columns in a table? Only one by one? What if there are 20 or more columns where an alerter needs to be applied? Clicking a column then clicking the alerter from the menu bar and then again and then again can be very cumbersome and time consuming.
Here’s the little trick how to do it at once:
Select all columns in a table where an alerter needs to be applied –> then go to properties –> group Available alerters –> Alerters, and check the Yes checkbox:
And if there are more alerters defined in a WebI document then all of them are listed in properties and any of them can be applied to the selected columns by checking their Yes checkboxes:
I am not sure why the Alerters window (the window where one can create new, edit, activate or deactivated alerters) can’t be opened using the Alerters button in the menu bar when more than 1 column in a table is selected. If you know the reason, please let me know in comments.
